Super Rap group Run DMC was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of fame this year. With hits like “My Adidas” It’s Like That” “It’s Tricky” and “King of Rock”, it’s no wonder why this phenomenal group became a part of the 2009 inductions.
Spear heading the rap game in the 80’s allowed Run DMC to break musical barriers. Since it’s formation in 1981 the group has maintained their success musically. One of their biggest records of all time was a “crossover” record in which they featured on Aerosmith’s “Walk this Way”. Run DMC was one of the first rap groups able to bring Hip Hop to the mainstream public at this time.
Black leather jackets, top hats, a fresh pair of “shell toes”, and the rope gold accent around their neck; Run DMC’s style and image has been emulated all over the world. Today, three of Hip Hop’s pioneers have earned their place in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame for everyone to see. It’s not so “Tricky” after all.
